What is The Junior Theater Festival?
The Junior Theater Festival (JTF) is the world’s biggest and best celebration of young people performing musical theater. It takes place January 13-16, 2023.
JTF brings together student musical theater troupes from all over the world for a weekend of musical theater mayhem and madness. Each troupe performs fifteen minutes from a Broadway Junior®️ show for adjudication by a panel of musical theater experts. The weekend also features professional development for teachers, workshops for students and parents, a New Works Showcase featuring new musical adaptations soon to be released and concludes with a grand finale concert headlined by Broadway’s best!
The Junior Theater Festival is sponsored by Playbill, Disney Musicals, and Music Theatre International.

Where and when do rehearsals take place?
Rehearsals will take place on Wednesdays and Thursdays 4-6 with additional rehearsals as we get closer to the festival. An official schedule will be soon!
Location of rehearsals:
Grace Church Van Vorst
39 Erie Street
Jersey City, NJ
How does the audition process work?
Students will be asked to submit an audition video where they will sing 30 seconds of a song from a musical and answer a few questions. We are looking for young performers with a positive attitude who have a passion for performing.
All audition videos will be due on August 1 and you will be notified via email of their acceptance. We will then set up a parent meeting to walk you through the entire process and answer any additional questions you may have.

How much is tuition?
Tuition for this program is $450 and is broken into 5 payments of $90/month. Students will be responsible for participating in a fundraiser in addition to tuition. All travel expenses are additional.
Can parents attend JTF?
Yes! In fact attending the festival is encouraged.
Can my child attend the festival if I do not attend?
CKP will assign a trained, experienced chaperone to your child (for an additional fee). The chaperone will be in contact with you the entire weekend keeping you up to date on all of the exciting things your child will be experiencing over the course of the trip.
How much are travel expenses?
Festival Tickets are $300 per person and are due October 1.
Hotel prices TBD but are approximately $200 per person. Hotel payments will be broken in two payments: half in September and the balance in December.
If you are traveling with your child, you must make your own flight arrangements.
If your child is traveling with a chaperone, an additional fee with your child's flight and chaperone expenses will be determined.
What if my child isn't accepted into the competition division?
No worries! Your child will have the opportunity to enroll in either our Junior or Senior Division. They will receiving training in all three disciplines of singing, dancing, and acting. Students in these divisions will be able to participate in our winter showcase and our spring musical in June. We highly recommend enrolling in these divisions so that your child can get the training necessary to audition for the competition team next year.
